House Bill

HB 1424

Farm and homestead food sales.

In plain English

Exempts homestead vendors and small farm vendors from many health rules for food establishments. It bars state and local governments from adding requirements beyond federal law, though they may investigate foodborne illness complaints. It lets these vendors sell meat and other foods from their property or a farmers market, sets labeling, shipping, and storage rules, and makes other changes.
